The is a video of my entire flight from Norwood (KOWD) to Beverly (KBVY) to visit Sam DeBartolo (www.youtube.com and his mom. As a direct flight, this route would not normally take a long time, but given Norwood and Beverly's relative positions under the Class Bravo shelf, the route can be less than direct. I had been avoiding flying north much since I got my PPL because of the complex airspace, but I decided it was time to give it a try. The video begins with my departure on Norwood's runway 35. I am then cleared through the Hanscom (KBED) airspace, but never into the Bravo itself. I had planned a route to the west of Hanscon, so I kept that route, which added to the flight's total duration. Throughout this video you will hear great examples of Flight Following VFR support, with exchanges between myself and the controllers as well as other planes on frequency. Ultimately I get handed off to the BVY Tower for a right downwind approach to runway 27. You will also hear me get a few traffic alerts from the controllers and you can watch my reaction. Generally I saw every plane fairly quickly, except for the last one which was likely on the ground at the airport. This is not a perfect example of how to move through airspace, but it will give you some example of what it looks, feels and sounds like. There are 3 HD cameras and ATC audio on this video. Enjoy.
